Program objectives

Based on Vietnam’s law on higher education, the BEIS has its objectives (PEOs) aligned with CTU’s mission. After graduation from the BEIS program, students will:

  • PEO1: Memorize basic knowledge of law, security and defense, political and social science; build physical health, ethics, social awareness, and professional responsibility according to current regulations.
  • PEO2: Apply basic knowledge of information systems and other related knowledge, programming, applied mathematics in information systems.
  • PEO3: Integrate knowledge of the specialized directions such as system analysis and design, database, data analytic, intelligent systems development for digital transformation and decision support.
  • PEO4: Ability to apply specialized knowledge and skills to meet the practical needs of an individual or an organization in the field of information systems and computers.

Expected learning outcomes

After graduation from the BEIS program, students should have the ability to:

2.1 General knowledge

  • ELO 1: Recall the basic knowledge of law, political and social science, national defense and security, physical education, ethics, and  professional responsibility in accordance with current regulations;
  • ELO 2: Apply basic knowledge of English or French in communication and study equivalent to level 3/6 of Vietnam's Framework of Foreign Language Proficiency (B1 in the European Framework of Reference).

2.2 Fundamental knowledge

  • ELO 3: Analyze and evaluate techniques and technologies, programming principles, and how to organize and manage data on computer platforms to be able to consult and design information systems to serve businesses and organizations
  • ELO 4: Synthesize knowledge and apply system analysis and design skills (discover problems, propose solutions, evaluate solutions) to solve practical needs arising from management and activities of enterprises and organizations

2.3 Specialized knowledge

  • ELO 5: Design various types of databases as well as build and develop management information systems
  • ELO 6: Build, develop, and administer various types of information systems such as e-commerce systems and intelligent information systems such as: Decision support systems, Geographic information systems, Recommender systems.

2.4 Professional skills

  • ELO 7: Collect and analyze user requirements
  • ELO 8: Operate, exploit, and manage database management systems. Manage popular geographic databases, data warehouses, and use tools to support system analysis and design
  • ELO 9: Apply modern techniques and technology to the process of building and developing information systems

2.5 Soft skills

  • ELO 10: Work in groups. Organize, assign and coordinate works among members in a multicultural working environment
  • ELO 11: Transfer professional knowledge and professional skills through presentations and presenting ideas; Write reports, establish and defend projects.
  • ELO 12:  Communication in English or French; Read and understand specialized documents in English or French.

2.6 Attitudes

  • ELO 13: Forming a sense of discipline and industrial behavior, ethical and political qualities, awareness and sense of civic responsibility; Respect and comply with the manager's work assignments; Know how to consider, respect and accept different points of view.
  • ELO 14: Apply trained knowledge and skills to analyze and solve problems that arise in working practices; Plan, coordinate, manage resources, evaluate and improve the effectiveness of activities.
  • ELO 15: Practice lifelong learning; proactively plan your own career development; Always update knowledge in specialized fields.
